First recipe, first blog post, first YouTube video…

The recipe that started it all is finally live on the blog to you all, and I couldn’t be more excited to share it again!  This sweet treat is unbelievably simple to make, and it only involves two ingredients- watermelon and lime.

My second summer in Arizona, I was looking for ways to beat the heat with cold treats.  I stumbled across recipes for granitas.  These semi-frozen desserts originated in Italy and are typically comprised of a simple syrup (sugar and water) with flavorings, like fresh fruit and fruit juices.  I was inspired and decided to try to create a similar sweet, but without the syrup.  This watermelon and lime combo is the result of that experimentation.  It’s flaky, decadent and refreshing on a hot summer day.  I hope you enjoy this granita-inspired treat!

  • 4 cups Watermelon
  • 1 oz Lime Juice
  1. Blend watermelon and lime juice.
  2. Pour into a freezer-safe container and freeze overnight.
  3. Thaw for ten minutes and scrape mixture with a fork until mixture is the desired texture.
  4. Enjoy!
